The scope of this project to automate the process of no filler Tig welding tube assemblies for firearm suppressors. The tube assemblies are made using 1.5" diameter Chrome Moly 4130 Alloy Steel. Depending on the assembly variation, there can be 2 or 3 circumferential welds at different positions on the tube. The weld types consist of butt joints and a lap joint.

The process starts with a dip coating machine where mold tooling is dipped in ambient temperature vinyl plastic, after the tooling is dipped, it is positioned horizontally for removal of the vinyl caps.

The scope of this project is to design, build, and integrate a system within the current production equipment that automates the method of cutting the facing material to length, the application of a tape strip to one edge of the facing, and turning the facing to the correct orientation. This process will reduce the facing sizes to only one size that fits all pipe diameters.
