Additional goals include: -Improve accuracy and consistency of draft readings -Improve efficiency of barge loading (reduce loading time due to accurate, real-time draft readings) -Reduce (or eliminate) amount of time that operators have to spend on barge for safety reasons Challenges include: -Variable dock configurations/obstructions -Variable barge types (box vs. rake) and dimensions -Variable loading sequences; barges are not always loaded from one end to the other -Water can be present in the wing tanks of the barge, which affects barge stability and overall draft levels during loading -Environmental (weather, waves, drifts, etc.) -Employee safety and exposure to man overboard -Dangerous environment that can cause people to trip/go into water (cables, winches, ropes, ice, snow, etc.)

I need the automation solution to be installed: Within a year

Further explanation:

I will be pretty swamped until later this Fall/Winter, but am open to answer questions about the project up until then. I will be in a better position to move forward with a solution in a few months.
