Description
CaPow Genesis is a Power-in-Motion energy system for AMRs and AGVs that supplies power while robots are operating, eliminating the need to stop for conventional charging.
Instead of sending mobile robots to stationary chargers and taking them out of production, Genesis delivers energy along designated portions of the robot’s normal travel path. This allows robots to recharge while continuing to perform material-handling work.
By reducing charging-related downtime, Genesis can help manufacturers, warehouses, and distribution centers:
- Increase AMR/AGV utilization and availability
- Reduce or eliminate time spent stopped at charging stations
- Improve fleet throughput
- Reduce or eliminate static charging stations in suitable applications
- Recover floor space previously dedicated to charging
- Reduce the number of robots required to maintain target throughput in some applications
- Delay or avoid additional robot purchases by increasing productive capacity from an existing fleet
Genesis can be applied to both new AMR/AGV deployments and existing fleets. For new projects, Power-in-Motion can help right-size the fleet by reducing the additional robot capacity often required to compensate for charging downtime. For existing fleets, it can increase utilization and unlock more productive capacity from robots already in operation.
Typical applications include high-utilization internal logistics, line-side replenishment, repetitive material transport, production supply, warehouse transport, and other AMR/AGV workflows where charging interruptions limit throughput.
Proven automotive application: In a Fortune 50 automotive deployment, Power-in-Motion increased robot utilization from 59.5% to 83.1% while reducing the required fleet from 4 robots to 3. The application also eliminated 2 static charging stations, reclaimed approximately 50 sq. ft. of floor space, and generated approximately $98,000 in savings, with an additional $197,000 in avoided costs associated with the project.
CaPow Genesis turns charging from a scheduled interruption into part of the robot’s normal operation—helping companies get more work from every robot.
Results are application-specific and depend on fleet design, duty cycle, charging requirements, robot utilization, operating conditions, and system configuration.
