We're looking to insource this component from an overseas supplier. In order to do this, we need to keep production costs low. Welding this assembly is simple, but time consuming. Adding automation must reduce cost and free up time for our welders to work on more complex products.

Its been a relatively low priority project. Insourcing this project is driven by things like reducing lead time, controlling the process, reducing inventory, and strategic sourcing, but is not much of a cost savings. Reducing costs by adding automation could speed up the project.
