Further explanation:
We are generally looking towards automation to reduce headcount and dependency on manual labour. At the airbag factory, several opportunities have been discovered and management has chosen to focus on final inspection of airbag modules as one of the first to automate. The modules undergo a final visual inspection where an operator is checking that the module looks correct and that the connector and wires appears to be in order. The barcode label is scanned for traceability purposes and the module is placed in a shipping container equipped with Styrofoam inlays. The same operator fills in new Styrofoam inlays as they are filled with tested modules.
