The current checking, part-loading, and tray-transfer process typically requires two to three people, represented as an average of 2.5 FTE. The expected staffing after automation is approximately 0.5 FTE, provided by one shared or floating operator supporting the cell as needed. The project is therefore expected to remove at least 2 FTE from this process. A key quality objective is to prevent incorrect component orientation, which has previously caused a customer reject. The financial impact is not yet quantified but is expected to become significant at full production volumes. Automation should also support increased volume without allowing this operation to become a bottleneck.
